Retroviral integrase M-CSA #989 | Retroviral Integrase (IN) catalyses viral DNA integration into the host chromosome by performing a series of DNA cutting and joining reactions. This enzyme activity takes place after virion entry into a cell and reverse transcription of the RNA genome into dsDNA. The Integrase reaction starts by the removal of two or three nucleotides from one or both ends of the viral DNA to expose 3'-hydroxyl groups. IN then catalyses the attack of the 3'-hydroyl groups to two phosphate groups of the host cell DNA, joining the two together. | Defined by 3 residues: ASP:A-131 [auth A-128]ASP:A-188 [auth A-185]GLU:A-224 [auth A-221] | EC: 2.7.7.49 (PDB Primary Data) EC: 2.7.7.7 (PDB Primary Data) EC: 3.1.26.4 (PDB Primary Data) EC: 3.4.23 (PDB Primary Data) |
